first_img Share Tweet NewsRegional Tropical Storm Humberto forms over Atlantic by: – September 9, 2013 Sharing is caring! 13 Views   no discussionscenter_img Share Share A depression south of the Cape Verde Islands developed into Tropical Storm Humberto overnight.At 4:00 am Monday the centre of Tropical Storm Humberto was located near Latitude 13.4 degrees north and Longitude 22.8 degrees west or about 230 kilometres southeast of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands, the Meteorological Service said.Humberto is moving towards the west near 19 km/h and this general motion should continue throughout the day. A turn toward the west-northwest with a decrease in forward speed is expected by Tuesday.Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 km/h, with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and Humberto could become a hurricane on Wednesday.Meanwhile, the Dominica Meteorological Service has advised that Tropical Storm Humberto does NOT pose any threat to the island chain.However, Weak unstable conditions associated with a trough system is expected to result in an increase in cloudiness with a few showers during today, 9th September.Slight to moderate sea conditions are expected during the next 48 hours with swells peaking near 5.0 feet.A tropical wave located in the Central Tropical Atlantic is expected in the area late Thursday into Friday.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img
